Blue Bee Cider, Virginiaâ€™s first urban cidery, is located in the historic Scottâ€™s Addition district of Richmond, VA. There are three tour times available, depending on the day: 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm. During the one-hour tour and tasting, you will learn about the history of our cidery andÂ the process of cidermaking.

Our ciders are made with rare and heirloom variety Virginia apples that are prized for their tannin, acidity, and flavor. One of Virginiaâ€™s native bees (the Blue Orchard/Mason Bee), provided the inspiration for the cideryâ€™s name. These hardworking bees are solitary and wild, emerging early in the cool spring just in time to pollinate apple blossoms.

After the tour and tasting is completed, we invite you to stayÂ and enjoy the ambience of Blue Bee Cider.

The extensive process of the cider making. The tastings themselves were great even though I’m not the best as describing what I’m tasting.

We were traveling from Ohio to Williamsburg passing through Richmond and we were looking for something unique on our route. Blue Bee fit the bill and had a tour that worked into our travel schedule We met Maddie who was an excellent tour guide and really knows the history and the process. She had great preparation and answered all our questions from a group of 9 tourists. The post-tour tasting was excellent and gave us the opportunity to "try before you buy". We took some "souvenirs" home with us to enjoy until we return again in the future.

We loved this tour. Been on many but this was one of our favorites. Very informative. Maddie was our guide and she was polite and knows her stuff. We got the last bottle of Fireball till next year.

Interesting experience at this urban cidery. The tour was a walk through their renovated, historic building and we had the tasting at one of their wooden picnic benches. We had never participated in a "tasting" and didn't know what to expect. Be aware that the cider has some alcoholic content and is not what you would buy at a farm stand or in the supermarket. On location is also a small cheese shop where you can purchase a platter to go with the cider. It's worth the money to have some bread, cheese, and fruit to go with the drinks.

We had the best time at Blue Bee! I already knew the cider was delicious but loved hearing about the history of the building, the company, and how they put so much thought into each batch. Brian was an excellent guide! I highly recommend whether you are visiting RVA or live here! Oh and the personalized cider tasting was a real treat.

The tour was very informative and informal, much like having a conversation with a friend. The entire team was welcoming and very obviously passionate about the work they do. Best of all the cider was exceptional, the range of tastes/flavors was fantastic and each one was noticeably different from the other. If we're ever back in Richmond we will be back.

Rick was an awesome tour guide-very knowledgeable & hospitable! We enjoyed the tour & the tasting. The ciders were delicious! We were just a little disappointed as we paid for 2 tours and tastings but we only had one ‘combined’ tasting for both of us at the end. I highly recommend the ciders!!

My sister and I had a wonderful time today at Blue Bee! All of the ciders were delicious, and our tour guide/server Savanna was awesome and so knowledgeable. We loved hearing the history of the grounds and the journey the cider goes on from apples to liquid gold! 😂 thank you guys!! Highly recommend!!
